“You Can’t Help People”

9 Feb

Today i got told that i can’t help people when i’m not very well (with depression etc) but then i thought, the reason why i am helping people is because i’m not very well. The bullies are the people that have caused me to be unwell, therefore i want to raise awareness of what the long term affects of bullying are.

The bullying can stop but the affects of what happened to you can last forever. Just because i am unwell it won’t stop me trying to help stop what caused me to become unwell. Doing this blog helps me anyway because there is a chance it may help someone, even if it just helps one person, that’s all i want.

Depression, anxiety, self harm, suicide, low self esteem, eating disorders etc, all of these can be caused by bullying.

“Its stormy now but the sun’s gonna shine again
Even the worst storms gotta end
We’re better if we weather it all (yeah)
Together we’re never gonna fall ♫”
(Stormy by Hedley)

Bullying needs to be stopped, and together we can stop it.
Stay strong and keep fighting.

I think the Dr is wrong about that. You are helping, and even this post helped me right now! I also know that real change, on whatever scale, is pushed by people with passion. Who’s going to be more passionate about this issue than someone who has felt its sting? Cried those tears? Keep writing and getting the message out. I love it xxx

Yay i’m glad this post helped you! And i agree, people who have been through it are going to be the most passionate about it!
      Thank you xx

I’m sorry, but I disagree with whoever told you that. Helping others is part of the healing process surely!!

You are an amazing young woman who does so much to educate others!

I think you’re doing the right thing. Being bullied can make you feel very helpless can’t it, so working to help others can go a long way to getting you over that feeling of helplessness. You have made an awful lot of people realise that they are not alone. It helps you and it helps them, and that has to be a good thing.

Raising awareness *is* important and helpful. Your blog also gives other people who are struggling that much needed validation in knowing that they’re not alone. Also, as you mentioned… what you’re doing helps you!

Keep up the fabulous work you’re doing! And take good care!

Don’t listen to whoever told you that you can’t help others because you are unwell. Sharing your journey lets others who have been bullied know that they are not alone. Like someone else said, awareness is key to stopping bullying and with your blog you are making people aware of the effects of bullying. Keep on sharing your story. It does help.

Thank you for the comments. The Doctor hadn’t even see my blog so she didn’t really know what it was like, she knew it was about bullying but nothing else. She is wrong because this is helping me and this gives me motivation.

Hiya Beth, You keep sharing because you are helping others. I love reading this blog although my heart breaks for you. You are doing good by spreading the word on FB and Twitter. In all the years i have looked for help and support on the internet, i have never found a good blog with real life stories just like yours. I am drawn to keep coming back. As you know my daughter is the same age as you and is going through hell. She dosen’t have a single friend apart from online ones. She loves singing and has a fairly good voice but today put up a recording of her on FB and the next thing she knew was that a few girls were spreading all over twitter how awful she was a should be embarresed etc. The tears haven’t stopped flowing. It is never ending. Do you have any close friends and are your family supportive? xxx big hugs xxxx

      Hey *cuddles*
Thank you lovely, it doesn’t seem like i am helping people so when people tell me that i am it helps 🙂
I am sorry to hear about your daughter! Tell her to ignore those girls, they are just jealous of her because she can sing and they can’t. I also love singing and the bullies are the reason i have never really put videos on youtube, i did once but took them down straight away because i was so worried about horrible comments.
I have 2 friends, and a lot of online friends. And my family don’t really know anything anymore about the bullying, i stopped talking to them about it when they told me to stop being silly.
      Thanks for your comment xxxx
